July? Seriously?

How in the world have I not written since May 23?!?!? Not sure where the past couple months have gone.

On June 10th I turned 40! When I started this journey in August of 2008 I wanted to be at goal weight by my 40th. I didn't make it. That's ok....I am sure proud of what I have accomplished in the past 2 years. We went on a cruise with 17 family and friends to celebrate. We had a fun filled 7 days in the Caribbean that included some great excursions like Zip Lining and Cave Tubing...things I never would have done at my starting weight....and things I was elated to do now!

Hubby and I joined the Y not too long ago so we could start using the babysitting and take some classes. We take step class together 2-3 days a week. It's awesome to do together! We also have the kids in swim classes. The schedule is hectic, but it's so nice to have an active and hectic schedule instead of the old lazy one!

Yesterday I went on my longest bike ride to date. It was an annual event in DE. I rode with a buddy and we planned on doing the extended metric century....which was 65 miles! I wanted it so bad....unfortunately my hip had other plans for me...around mile 29 I was hurting. I pushed through the first loop of the ride which was 33 miles! I was thrilled to have done 33 and frustrated I couldn't do the second loop. I didn't want to get out there and have to call for help. My buddy decided to push through solo and did it! I was so proud of him! The second half was very hilly and it was probably a good thing I didn't do it! The goal is still to do the MS ride in Sept, which is 75 miles! I will do it!!

Oh....other big news is that my hubby bought a bike! We have only had a chance to go on one family ride, but it was great. I towed the kids and he tested out the new wheels. Yay for family fun!!!

I won't lie....I've been struggling BIG TIME with the old emotional food demons lately! I am up a bit...and scared to get on the scale. Tomorrow is a fresh start for me. Wearing the Body Bugg, counting calories, keeping up my exercise....which has still been good. It's all about the food and the darn mental game! I've had the "click" before...It's coming back!!!

That's it for now.....must write more often.

Till next time....

  1. Welcome back! Congrats on the riding. 33 miles is a lot, even though you wanted to do the 2nd loop. The 75 will come. It seems like once you start training over 50 miles, the mileage jumps up pretty easily after that.
